There is no fee to enter the Student Film Competitions.

Films received by Dec. 31, 2012 will be considered for both semifinal rounds. Late films received by January 18, 2013, will only be considered for the second semifinal round.

Submission Guidelines:

Each film must be accompanied by a completed entry form and applicable entry fees (entry form must include working email address). Entries will be accepted through withoutabox. com or via mail to the submission address below (please see “what we will accept” for technical details.) Submissions from anywhere in the world will be accepted for consideration; however, foreign language works must be subtitled in English. Films need not be premieres, but entries must have been completed or had their world premiere after January 1, 2010. Projects with distribution agreements are accepted. Please include

a three line synopsis of your film. Please do not send press kits or any other print materials until they are requested by the festival staff.

What we will accept:

- DVD Video NTSC Region 1. It should be on a DVD-R or standard

DVD (NO DVD+Rs).

- .MOV files on disc or via a file-sharing service (withoutabox

included) or a USB drive

- Films with dialogue in a foreign language must have subtitles.

- Audio MUST be Dolby Digital or AAC stereo.

- Films need to be labeled for aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3 is fine,

all other submissions will be rejected)

- NO Blu-Ray, NO film, NO surround sound

Entry Fees:

INTERNATIONAL SUBMISSIONS ARE FREE

Entry Fees must be in US currency.

Early Bird submissions August 1, 2012 – September 31, 2012: $10 in all categories

Regular submissions Oct 1, 2012 – December 31, 2012: $20 in all categories

Late Deadline January 1, 2013 – January 10, 2013: $30 in all categories

WAB Extended deadline January 11, 2013 – January 18,

2013: $35 in all categories

Accepted payments through withoutabox.com submissions are credit cards, check or money order. Any mailed submissions must include either a check or money order made payable to “Lewiston Auburn Film Festival.”

Shipping:

All shipping costs are the responsibility of the entrant. DVDs must be sent to the submission address, prepaid. All “Cost on Delivery” (C.O.D.s) will be refused. All DVDs must be labeled with the appropriate category name. You can submit up to five films in one package, however each film must be accompanied by its own entry form with each title and category clearly labeled. Lewiston Auburn Film Festival, lafilmfestival.org or any of our affiliates do not accept responsibility for damage or loss of materials. LAFF will not return any submissions, so please do not send us any original copies, master copies, the only copy you have, etc.

* Please note: Do not use registered mail. Use First class, Priority, Airmail or Media Mail. Fedex, UPS and DHL also accepted. Film entries will not be returned.

Selection and Notification:

All entries will be viewed by LAFF’s selection committee and judged on a points system. LAFF will not cut, change or modify films in any way. Entrants will be notified of their acceptance to the festival by an approximate date of March 1, 2013 via email at the latest. Due to the volume of submitted films, LAFF is not able to notify rejected submissions. If you hear from us, you’ve been accepted; if you don’t please submit films again the following year. Selected films will also be listed on our website: https://lafilmfestival.org, and updated periodically until the date of the festival. LAFF does not pay rental fees for submitted work. If selected, exhibition format is DVD (region 0, 1, NTSC). It is imperative that a valid email address and phone number is included on the submission form. If your film is selected and can not play due to being sent in the wrong format, faulty DVD or any other technical reason LAFF retains all rights to remove your accepted film from the festival. Films will not be returned for filmmakers following the festival.

Awards:

An “Audience Choice Award” in each of the categories will be presented at the festival’s gala awards ceremony on April 6, 2013 and winners will be announced on our website and could be featured in “LAFF Presents” film nights throughout the year. The award is determined by festival attendees.
